Straight from the Hip

So we have arrrived at our penultimate home game of the season with this local derby against Chesham United who are in with a very real chance of reaching the play-offs. As far as we Marlow supporters are concerned we are determined to enjoy the last three games of the season with our last home game on Saturday and then the visit to Bury Town the following week.

Since my last column was written we have had 4 games with 2 draws and 2 losses - and as the playing conditions are drying out so we see more awkward bounces of the ball and not such good playing surfaces. So we were pleased with the 2-2 draw at Burnham, but not too happy with the 0-1 defeats by Slough Town and Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Last Saturday we made the long trip to Rothwell Town, starting out early so we could spend some quality time in a Good Beer Guide pub close to the ground. Mr Grouser was very pleased to be able to show off to his BBGG friends an article in the April edition of the Non-League 24 Magazine featuring his nom-de-plume of Maurice Oram under the heading of "Super Fans". We walked into the pub in Rothwell at exactly 1.30 p.m., looked around and noticed one person seated at a table eating his lunch. Imagine our surprise when he spoke to us and had open on his table the very page of the magazine featuring M.O. Then we found out that he had come all the way that day from Eastbourne to take photos of the Rothwell v Marlow game - spooky or what? The game finished 3-3, that photographer had previously been at Marlow for the game against Bedworth United and that finished 3-3 - spooky or what?

We hope that many of you will join the famous BBGG and the flags this evening and cheer Marlow to victory and join in our celebrations.

Super Marlow
